Pencil Poetry
Long-time Creative Director Carlos Caicedo spent years building an amazing series of photography and illustration focused on pencils and paper. He and his son, Mo, worked on this animation together to tell a truly unique story about this little yellow pencil. Jean Delaunay had worked on this previously, but was called elsewhere. We were honored to come in to animate a few scenes, develop the lighting and compositing, and help finish this imaginative piece.

Leading Lines
To leave a graphite line on the paper behind the pencils, particles were emitted from the tip of the pencil and then cached. Points on a curve were snapped to these particles and rendered as a strip, and finally textured as graphite.
